Nekpen Obasogie’s Bio
Nekpen Obasogie is an Author, a Social Worker (MSW/RSW), and a PhD Candidate at the University of Toronto. She is also the founder and manager of the Canadian Council for Family Services in Toronto and the CEO of NEBO TV.
Since 2021, she has published three historical books exploring the arrival of Europeans in West Africa from the late 15th century onward. She holds multiple degrees, including a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Society and Sociology, a certificate in Refugee and Migration Studies, and a Master’s degree in Social Work from York University.
She is running for the position of City Councillor in York South-Weston, Ward 5 in Toronto, to serve as a dedicated voice for the residents at Toronto City Council. Her mission is to advocate for the community’s needs and priorities, ensuring their concerns are heard and addressed, including housing, affordability, public safety, and infrastructural development. She is committed to bringing about meaningful and transformative change that enhances the quality of life for all residents in York South-Weston.
Nekpen’s long-time community work and leadership experience in Toronto have prepared her to serve our community with purpose and respect, and she is fully committed to continuing this vital service.
